Event Navigation

A presentation by the 1818 Society Energy Thematic group.

Hal Wackman is a Canadian national, with degrees in civil engineering, hydropower engineering and business administration, he had a distinguished career in the Bank, first in the former Industrial Project Department, and then as Country Director for Kenya based in Nairobi, before retiring in the early 2000.He has traveled extensively and knows most regions of the developing world.

The novel, ‘The Carbon Killers‘, revolves around a series of bold actions needed to solve the climate crisis. It takes place during the 2020’s in different regions of the developed and developing world. Most of the novel’s main characters are women, determined to take the needed emergency measures to resolve the climate change crisis. Predictably, there is strong resistance to their efforts -both from bureaucrats and fossil fuel interests- which lead to an exciting climax.
