Special Seminar on Bhutan by the experts — Mark LaPrairie and Tshering Yangzom

February 26, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Event Navigation

Join us for a very special event. The two people in Washington who are the experts on Bhutan have agreed to make a special presentation on Bhutan. We expect the briefing to cover a wide range of topics — history, culture, environment, governance, social development — that will help participants who have signed up for the 2020 Bhutan trip. The session may also be of interest to other members.  In case you are unable to join the seminar in person you can join by WebEx through the link provided below.

After the session Bhutan trip participants are welcome to stay on to meet with your trip coordinators — Cyprian Fisiy for the trekking group, and Jenny Zhu, for the cultural tour — to discuss any other questions you may have.

About the Speakers:
Mark LaPrairie is Senior Operations Officer, OPCS and is the person with the most experience and knowledge on Bhutan.
Mark was the first World Bank Resident Representative to Bhutan. Previously we was the Unicef Education Officer in Bhutan, and prior to that was a volunteer teacher in Bhutan.

Tshering Yangzom is Director of Programs, Bhutan Foundation. Bhutan does not have an Embassy in USA and Tshering serves as the principal resource person on Bhutan in Washington.
