The 1818 Society will hold a memorial event on September 23, 2019, in honor of Ernie Stern, who passed away in June. It will be held in room JB1-080, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, followed by a meet-and-greet over coffee and tea.
Ernie was arguably the most impactful leader of the World Bank Group throughout his career at the Bank, which spanned almost 25 years, from 1971-1994. The event will be an opportunity for Ernie’s colleagues and friends to share tales about their association with him. All 1818 members and their guests are cordially invited to attend.
The event will start with brief remarks by a few of Ernie’s colleagues, followed by an open forum for the attendees to share their perspectives. If you wish to offer written remarks – which we hope most of you would – Nonna Ponferrada, Ernie’s long time Executive Assistant, has kindly volunteered to compile these in a memory book. Please email these to 1Society@worldbank.org, attention Nonna Ponferrada prior to the event if you can, but no later than October 2, 2019.
Mrs. Stern is expected to join us for the event.
