Türkiye and Syria Earthquake Disaster Relief Drive: You Can Help!

This relief drive will run for 10 business days, from February 8 – February 23, 2023.

On February 6, 2023, two powerful earthquakes of 7.8 and 7.5 magnitudes struck south-central Türkiye, resulting in massive loss of life, injuries, and thousands of homes damaged or completely destroyed in Türkiye and neighboring Syria. The death toll is expected to rise as families are still trapped under rubble, amidst the collapse of thousands of buildings. This earthquake disaster is the worst to strike Türkiye in over 80 years. In Syria, the catastrophe comes on top of an already extremely difficult political and social situation in this war-ravaged country.

Hundreds of thousands of people, who are stranded on the streets or shelters in freezing temperatures in both countries, are in urgent need of essential household and medical supplies, water, food and shelter.  We need your support to bring first aid relief to the most vulnerable.

How You Can Help:

For this relief effort, the WBG Community Connections program is partnering with CARE, whose relief efforts on the ground are being conducted both in Türkiye and Syria. The organization’s response efforts are focused not only on responding to immediate needs but also emergency food, health services, shelter and much more. CARE is also coordinating with the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), UNHCR in Syria, and other UN agencies to determine and coordinate the full extent of ongoing activities as the situation evolves.
