Deception: Part Two of the Ayton Cycle

Against a background of the conflict between the forces of law and order and a transnational criminal syndicate in a small town in the English Midlands, a doomed love affair takes place. A major international crime syndicate with roots in another European country has established hegemony in the fields of drugs, prostitution, people-trafficking and gun-running in the town of Ayton on the Wold. Children as young as ten are being enlisted in a massive county lines scheme by the syndicate and drug taking and deaths from drugs are sky rocketing. A new Chief Constable is appointed and police strength in the town has been reinforced with a mission to break the power of the criminal gang and raids are swiftly launched on properties being used as business centres and brothels by the gang. As part of a national operation measures are also being put in place to disrupt and where possible block the financial channels, through which the criminal syndicate ill-gotten gains are being transmitted abroad for cleansing and later reinvestment in legitimate investments. The syndicate does not remain passive in the face of the attacks and plans and with the assistance of senior gang figures from London plans and executes measures for retaliation and repair of its crime set-up in the town. The scene is set for major confrontation in which the lives of ordinary people become entwined.
