Transport Thematic Group event

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, we will welcome Mr. Nicolas Peltier-Thiberge, Global Director of the World Bank’s Transport Global Practice. Nicolas will share his insights on the Bank’s evolving transport sector policies and project initiatives in response to the shifting dynamics of international development—including the urgent imperatives of job creation, inclusive growth, and climate action. In a context shaped by rapid urbanization, digital transformation, and fiscal constraints, the Transport Global Practice is rethinking how transport systems can drive resilient, low-carbon, and equitable development while supporting employment and human capital goals. Its broad portfolio includes sustainable infrastructure and mobility, improved rural connectivity, multimodal transport solutions, and strengthened regional integration—leveraging innovation and fostering greater collaboration with the private sector.

Mr. Nicolas Peltier-Thiberge is the Global Director of the Transport Global Practice in the Infrastructure Vice Presidency of the World Bank. He joined the Bank in 2002 as a Young Professional and has since held various positions within the Transport Global Practice, overseeing World Bank-financed transport investments across regions including North Africa and the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Africa. From 2012 to 2015, he served as a Portfolio Assistant in the Office of the World Bank Group President. Between 2015 and 2022, he was a Practice Manager responsible for the Bank’s transport portfolio in North Africa and the Middle East, West and Central Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean. He assumed his current role as Global Director in May 2022. Before joining the World Bank, he worked at the French Ministry of Economy and Industry and the French Treasury. Mr. Peltier-Thiberge holds advanced degrees in science and civil engineering, as well as in technology and policy, from École Polytechnique and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.
