1818 Hiking Club – K2 Base Camp Trek

November 5 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Event Navigation

Join us for a presentation by the hikers who undertook an arduous trek to the K2 Base Camp in the Karakoram Mountain Range, Pakistan. This 15-day camping trek covered 150 kms, the bulk of it along or on the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia (4,500 meters), and then on the Godwin-Austin Glacier to K2 Base Camp (5,100 meters). Trekking and camping on the glacial moraine for 8 days made this our hardest ever trek. The reward for reaching Concordia was unobstructed views of K2 (8,611m) the 2nd highest peak in the world, Broad Peak (8,051m) and Gasherbrum 2 (8,034m) and many, many more 7,000+ and 6,000+ peaks. On the way back we also got a glimpse of Gasherbrum 1 (8,080m), the fourth 8,000+ peak in the Karakoram and rounded off the trip by hiking to Fairy Meadows for a magnificent view of Nanga Parbat (8,125m). Come to see what we saw, and hear directly from the trekkers about their experience.
