Trip Overview.
During this 16-night trip, you will explore one of the most captivating island destinations. You’ll start by delving into the central hills to immerse yourself in the rich culture of Kandy, the last kingdom before the British colonization.
Next, you will challenge yourself with a trek through the mighty Knuckles Mountain range, including the demanding three-peak trek. You’ll also tackle Stage 3 of the Pekoe Trail from Loolkandura to Tawalantenne.
Continuing your journey, you’ll ascend to the central mountains in Horton Plains National Park, a highland wilderness paradise and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll explore the park, visit World’s End Viewpoint, Bakers Falls, and climb Thotupola Kanda, Sri Lanka’s 3rd highest peak. Additionally, you’ll take Stage 10 of the Pekoe Trail from Horton Plains to Dayagama.
Your adventure progresses to Gal Oya, one of Sri Lanka’s last wild frontiers, where you’ll encounter the indigenous Veddah Tribe during a wild jungle walk to learn about their way of life. The trip will also include a safari boat to witness wild elephants and a visit to the wild section of Nilgala Park, abundant with rare birdlife.
Following this, you’ll head to the East Coast in Pasikuda for some well-deserved rest by the beach. You’ll also have the opportunity to savor a delicious Batticaloa style crab lunch.
Subsequently, you’ll explore the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes, journeying through the ancient UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ancient marvels of the old world. The ancient cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Sigiriya will showcase the rich history and heritage of Sri Lanka.
Continuing your journey to Wilpattu for a full-day safari in Wilpattu National Park, you will join your guides in a jeep for an exciting game drive to make the most of your time spotting elusive wildlife.
Finally, you’ll conclude your island adventure in the cosmopolitan city of Colombo, embarking on a city adventure by open-top land cruiser to explore the city after dark.
