Travel Program… We begin and end the tour in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia (airport designation TBS) and a beautiful city that featured prominently on trade routes from Asia to Europe. The focus of this unique itinerary will be the ancient, medieval, and modern architectural and cultural monuments to the West – the region of ancient Colchis on the Black Sea coast where Jason and the Argonauts pursued the mysterious Golden Fleece. Our first day will include a walking tour of Old Town Tbilisi and a visit to the National Museum. By day 3, we will be traveling to West Georgia!
Our itinerary takes us to the medieval cave cities in the lesser Caucasus, then to the Black Sea coast to visit Roman-Hellenic sites. Our adventure really picks up when we travel into high Caucasus mountains to explore the gold-producing region of Svaneti, where each village looks like a defensive fortress. Finally, we arrive at Kutaisi, famed capital city of the Colchian Empire, where we visit UNESCO heritage sites and taste local wine vintages. We have several private concerts planned!
This is a tour of sites, sounds, and tastes to thrill even the most seasoned travelers. Our dedicated team takes excellent care to locate and vet every hotel, restaurant, and transport for superior quality. Come travel with us!
