This relief drive will run for 10 business days, from September 3-16, 2024
About 6 million people in Bangladesh across 11 districts in the eastern part of the country are stranded, cut off from the rest of the country by an unprecedented flood due to excessive rainfall and upstream water flows. The disaster has resulted in loss of life – with the current death toll of at least 32 people as reported by the Bangladesh Department of Disaster Management– disruption and severe shortage of essential services and mass displacement of thousands of families who have lost their homes, crops, livestock and all of their belongings. About 540,000 people along with their cattle have taken refuge in 4,063 shelter centers. Many of the affected districts have not experienced such severe floods in the last three decades, leaving many people unprepared or unaware how to respond.

How You Can Help:
For this relief effort, the disaster relief drive sponsors have identified 2 NGOs — BRAC USA and Islamic Relief USA — that are undertaking urgent and coordinated relief and recovery efforts in the affected areas. BRAC USA has deployed a 5,000-person team, including seven medical teams, and is helping with ongoing rescues, plus deliveries of food (35,000+ so far), drinking water, sanitary napkins, safety messages and even cattle feed. Islamic Relief USA is working to provide emergency relief through cash assistance to those in need in the affected regions.

- Donations will be eligible for a 50% matching donation from the World Bank if at least 100 staff pledge a total of $10,000.
- The corporate match for disaster relief drives is calculated as a lump sum after the end of the drive, and therefore will not be noted in your donation receipt. O
