We are pleased to inform you that our exhibit Inspirations from Around the World will run September 30 – November 3, 2024 at the Friendship Gallery, 4433 South Park Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the Gallery. They do have other activities in some of the rooms so you may not be able to see the entire facility. Kindly find below the instructions to prepare for the exhibit. The Entry Form is attached as well as the list of participants.
The guidelines are a bit long, and you may find that some elements are repeated between this email and the Entry Form.
This is because the Entry form is also the contract between each artist and the gallery and we have to respect the format required by the Gallery.
1. Number and type of artworks
Considering the limited space of the Gallery, each artist will be allowed up to two (2) artworks and only one (1) if is it large [Max 36” x 48”]. As 35 artists have signed up (see list attached), the show will have a max of 70 pieces. All artwork must be for sale and a sale price marked.
We remind you that the show is only for 2D work or 3D if it can be hanged like a 2D piece.

- Deadline for online submission: Friday, May 31 – (entry form below), including pictures, information of the one-two artworks, and artist bio and statement (maximum: 250 words). You will need to send your entry form and the pictures of your work as email attachments to the curator team: may.sita@hotmail.com, sharmilakapur@gmail.com, dominique.lallement@gmail.com, potashnikm@gmail.com, arleenseed@gmail.com
- Margarita must send to the gallery, by July 1, 2024 the artists’ bios and statements and the final list of submissions to the gallery by September 6, 2024, so that the gallery can print the labels.
- Drop off of artworks: Sunday, September 29 from 10 to 12pm at the Gallery. A relative or friend can take the pieces. Artwork must be dropped off on the designated date/time.
- Opening Reception: Thursday, October 17 from 6:30 to 8pm. Please invite your network, friends, and family. We will send an electronic flyer/invitation card that you will be able to use at your discretion.
- Pickup of artworks: Sunday, November 3 at 1pm. A relative or friend can pick up the pieces. Artwork must be collected on the designated date/time. No early pickup. All art must remain the entire length of the show. There are no storage facilities at the gallery.
2. Need for Volunteers
Our exhibition is an artist run event (As you know, the Art Club has no staff or budget). Volunteering is key for this exhibition to be a big hit. Members have already started to volunteer and we appreciate their collaboration very much:

- Sharmila Kapur – creating the flyer/invitation card of the exhibit.
- Alvani Silva, Renu Deshpande – organizing the reception. We need more help with this.
- Arleen Seed – writing the piece for the Friendship Heights Village Newsletter.
- Arleen is also available to provide advice to artists in need of an experienced opinion to choose which pieces to submit for the exhibit (she owns a gallery in Maryland).
- Ramesh Ramankutty and Dominique Lallement – preparation of the virtual show (see below).

3. Opening Reception. We need donations of disposable tableware, beverages and/or finger food for the opening reception. We are expecting about 100 people or more. We would like live soft music at the reception(submit your ideas/recommended a musician) and bartenders (maybe relatives or friends). Alvani (AlvaniSilva@gmail.com) and Renu (Renudeshp@gmail.com) will circulate a donation sheet in August.

5.Virtual Show.
Art Club members who are not residing in the DMV and/or friends of Art Club Members will be able to enjoy the show through a virtual show that will open after the opening reception.
Together we can make this a wonderful event for all of us.
