Uma Lele: She has an MS and PhD in Applied Economics from Cornell University. She is President Elect of the International Association of Agricultural Economists, affiliated with the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. She has more than four decades of experience in research, operations, policy analysis, and evaluation, a major part of it acquired working in the World Bank in Asia, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. She has taught at Cornell University and the University of Florida and worked with several organizations including FAO, CGIAR, IFAD, the Carter Center, and the M.S. Swaminathan Foundation. Martien van Nieuwkoop – Director in the World Bank’s Agriculture Global Practice. In this capacity, he provides leadership and global oversight to the agriculture sector dialogue, portfolio management, and partnership relationships, covering a wide range of issues, including food security and food safety; agricultural productivity and competitiveness; agribusiness and post-harvest value-addition; and climate resilient agriculture. Prior to his current position, he has held numerous managerial and leadership positions covering the Bank’s engagement on agriculture in Africa, Latin-America and South Asia.
