A presentation by the Energy Thematic Group of the 1818 Society

The Fund started out as a mechanism for controlling the resource curse. Today it is the world’s largest SWF (USD 1,4 tn in a nation of 5 million).  The talk will analyse the reasons for its success and point to dilemmas for its future. How will the fund tackle the challenge of climate change, a changed geopolitical framework and domestic legitimacy at the same time as it maintains its role as a  pension fund for all inhabitants for Norway?
