Email has become virtually a universal mode of communication for all of us. It is hard to imagine how we managed before the invent of email. But this has also opened opportunities for fraud and theft by criminals and fraudsters, who have become increasingly clever in enticing you to open emails that can result in your personal details being stolen or your email being used for nefarious purposes. This is often referred to as phishing. In addition, cyber criminals are increasingly using the phone to trick unaware users into releasing their personal information which they use for financial gain or to cause harm. This is referred to as vishing which is phishing over the phone. There are other new and old techniques that cyber criminals use against the users which will be covered in this webinar to help you stay cyber-safe and prepared to respond if you are targeted with such attacks.

Vaman leads the Information Security Operations Center (ISOC), a key function of the World Bank Group Office of Information Security. ISOC is responsible for detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity attacks against the WBG institutions and users. It operates 24×7 from Washington DC, United States, and Chennai, India. As the ISOC Lead, Vaman stays one step ahead of cyber criminals to stop any cyber-attack against the World Bank Group. In his role, Vaman has a unique insight into the tactics used by cyber criminals and deep technical understanding of the methods the criminals use to trick unsuspecting victims into cyber traps. Vaman has extensive experience in delivering cybersecurity training and speaking engagements to raise WBG users’ awareness of current and emerging cyber threats and help them prepare to defend themselves from these attacks.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Vaman spent 11 years in the Indian Armed Forces specializing in Cyber Security. He started his career as an IT system and network administrator. Vaman has a Master’s Degree in Cyber Security and Cyber Law and major certifications in the cybersecurity field such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
