Speaker: Robin Carruthers, WBG Consultant – Infrastucture Practice Group, currently part of the Bank team advising the Saudi Arabia Ministry.
Robin has five decades of experience in transport and highway economics, strategic planning, urban transport, trade and transport economics and logistics. He has developed new methods for the prioritization of infrastructure investments, for assessing the relative advantages of trade facilitation measures, and for developing financing mechanisms for projects that have a sound economic justification, but which would not otherwise be attractive to private investors.
Since retiring from the Bank in 2005 he has been an independent consultant contracted in addition to the Bank by the United Nations, the regional multilateral development Banks, the European Union, the International Maritime Organization, several bilateral development agencies and NGOs. He has also acted as advisor on transport policy and strategy to governments in the Middle East. He has advised the Saudi Ministry of Transport on its transport strategy and is currently advising the Saudi Railway Authority, the Saudi Transport Regulatory Agency and the Ministry of Finance (on its infrastructure contribution during the Saudi presidency of the G20).
