Engendering Development – A Revolution in Action

June 9, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Navigation

A joint presentation by the Gender & Development and WBG History Thematic Groups.

The empowerment of women and gender equality are increasingly recognized as critical challenges that thwart progress and development. This event is the second of a series that reviews the history of women/gender issues at the WBG. The first session (Nov/2020) covered how women broke the glass ceiling within the institution; this second event traces the integration of “Gender” within operational work – from its beginnings until the seminal publication of Engendering Development (2001). It highlights the internal and external intellectual discourse, turning points, champions, and achievements and challenges. A future session is planned to cover the post-2000 period till today.
