Can Carbon Emission Reduction be harmonized with Economic Well-being?

September 15, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Event Navigation

A joint presentation by 1818 Society Energy TG and Social & Environment TG.

The current, polarizing debate between priority given to carbon emission reduction rather than economic well-being has diverted attention from efforts to reconcile these objectives. The focus of environmental policy discussion must now shift towards providing incentives to align these objectives.

Speaker:

Miguel Schloss is President of Surinvest Ltda. and member of the Bretton Woods Committee. He was Chairman of the 1818 Society Chapter in Chile, Chief Executive and member of several Board and governing bodies of international private and civil society entities, including Executive Director of Transparency International, and Expert Advisory Board Member of Dalberg Global Development.

The presentation draws from his recent book: Carbon Neutrality in Uncertain Territory; Generis, 2022.
