The 1818 Society’s Committee on Taxation, Estate Planning and Immigration is pleased to announce a seminar on Estate Planning. The seminar will review the general framework of estate legislation in the U.S.A. and the importance of careful estate planning. It will discuss key topics such as: (i) how to clarify personal estate planning objectives and needs; (ii) the respective roles, functions and modalities of common U.S. estate planning documents such as a will, a living trust, various types of beneficiary designations, a power of attorney, and an advance health care directive; and (iii) estate and gift taxation at federal and state levels. In addition, it will discuss various topics related to the administration of a decedent’s estate, together with potential estate planning measures which may help to simplify some aspects of estate administration.
